JEE Main Exam Pattern 2026

What is the JEE Main exam pattern?
JEE Main Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) is a 3-hour computer-based test covering Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each subject has two sections: Section A with 20 multiple-choice questions and Section B with numerical-value questions (5 to be answered), for 75 questions and 300 marks in total. Marking is +4 for a correct answer and −1 for an incorrect one, including numerical-value questions in recent cycles. It is held in two sessions (typically January and April), and a candidate’s best score across sessions is used for merit. Separate papers exist for B.Arch (with an aptitude test and a pen-and-paper drawing test) and B.Plan.
