JEE Main Preparation Tips 2026
National Testing Agency (NTA) · Reviewed by Mentora’s academic team
How do you prepare for JEE Main?
- Build conceptual mastery of NCERT Class 11–12 Physics, Chemistry and Maths first, since the syllabus is anchored to it, then move to advanced problem sets.
- Treat Session 1 as a serious attempt and use the gap before Session 2 to fix weak areas — only your best score across sessions counts.
- Practise the numerical-value (Section B) questions specifically, as they now carry negative marking and are often skipped by underprepared candidates.
- Take full-length timed mock tests in the actual computer-based interface to build speed and accuracy across the 3-hour window.
- Analyse previous years’ papers and NTA sample papers to understand question weighting and recurring topics.
- Keep an error log from every mock test so you stop repeating the same conceptual or calculation mistakes.
