NEET Exam Pattern 2026
National Testing Agency (NTA) · Reviewed by Mentora’s academic team
What is the NEET exam pattern?
NEET (UG) is a 3-hour offline (pen-and-paper, OMR) test of single-correct-answer MCQs covering Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). There are 45 questions per subject — 180 questions in total, all compulsory — for 720 marks. Marking is +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer, and 0 for an unattempted one. The earlier optional-questions format (choosing 45 of 50 per subject) has been discontinued, restoring the all-compulsory 180-question paper.
